Authentic choucroute made with sauerkraut without meat

If you make sauerkraut, you should make choucroute! Although it is French cuisine, it is a regional dish close to Germany and goes well with beer. The sourness of sauerkraut is very delicious, and it is a pot-au-feu-like dish.

Ingredients

  • 2-3 potatoes
  • Half onion
  • 1/2 carrot
  • A clove of garlic

  • White wine 3/4 cup (1/4 cup + 1/2 cup)
  • 1 cup of water
  • A little salt
  • Appropriate amount of mustard

How to make

  1. Cut potatoes in half and carrots to a suitable size, put 1/4 cup of white wine and potatoes and carrots in a pot, and heat over high heat to evaporate alcohol.
  2. When the alcohol is evaporated, add water and salt and boil then until the potatoes cooked.
  3. Meanwhile, chopped garlic, sliced ​​onions. Put olive oil and garlic in a pan.
  4. When the scent comes out, put onions, add sauerkraut and 1/2 cup of white wine.
  5. When the alcohol evaporated, serve carrots, potatoes and cabbage on a plate. It is delicious to eat with mustard!

  • It is delicious to eat with bread.
  • When you add sauerkraut, please add also liquid.
  • The sauerkraut has some taste, so it is delicious without any special seasoning. If you feel bland, adjust it with salt.
