Why Japanese people attracted to cherry blossoms so much?
I think you all know that Japanese people love cherry blossoms. Why are Japanese people so attracted to cherry blossoms?
Today I will tell you my own answer.
Cherry blossom season is spring
The cherry blossom season is spring. Spring in Japan is around March to April.
At this time, Japan is in a special season.
A graduation ceremony is held in March, and an entrance ceremony at school or company, (In terms of company, this is done when a person who has graduated from high school or university enters the first company.) are held in April.
Spring is the end time, but it means the beginning time.
School entrance and graduation ceremonies are held only once a year. It varies by one or two days depending on the area, but at the same time throughout Japan.
Parents who have raised their children are also impressed by their growth and proud of them.
Even if you do not graduate, being separated into new classes was a big event in April.
It is a season when our emotions fluctuate greatly.
At that time, the ephemeral cherry blossoms are in full bloom powerfully and beautifully, and while knowing that they are in full bloom for short time. They are dancing in the wind.
The joy of graduating, the sadness of failing to take the entrance examination, the anxiety and expectations of jumping into a new world. Having to say goodbye to close friends who go to different regions or countries after graduation. Departure to a new world, new encounters and environment.
I don’t think Japanese like cherry blossoms just because It’s beautiful.
There are many songs in Japan titled Sakura. After all, many of them are about farewell or a new start.
I like Naotaro Moriyama’s song called Sakura. I’ll put the lyrics.
While listening to this song, I’ve decided to write this article.
Sakura (さくら)
Naotaro Moriyama (森山 直太朗)
We are surely waiting for you to meet again.
Waving and screaming on the cherry blossom-lined road.
No matter how painful you are, you are smiling.
I felt like I could do my best even if I was about to break.
I can hear the song of that day in the hazy scenery.
Sakura, Sakura is in full bloom now.
They are knowing that it is destined to scatter in the moment.
Good bye my friend, It’s time to depart. My feelings for you do not change.
Am I able to say true words now?
The true words that wish for your shining future.
The changing city is like rushing us.
Sakura, Sakura just flutters down. They believe in the moment of being reborn someday while fluttering down.
Don’t cry my friend,It’s time to depart. Say good bye with that your smile just the way you are.
Sakura Sakura, Dance in the wind.
In the light that shines forever.
Good bye friend, see you at this place again, on the road where the cherry blossoms petals dancing in the wind.
